There is a fairly new radio station in the Dallas, Fort worth Area called CASA 106.7.
The music is a mix of rap, hip hop, Spanish and more. But the radio station isn't what I am really writing about. There is an unsung hero at that station. His radio name is "Mean Mauri", he is the host of the morning show. Mean Mauri is a well known DJ in the Dallas area. What not many people know is that he is a very positive influence on his young listeners. Mauri, is never afraid to talk about his feelings, whether it be about his personal life or race relations in the Dallas, Fort Worth Area. Mauri is always there for his people, in times of crisis. He is the only radio personality that I ever here warning listeners to "STAY AWAY FROM HEROIN", also known now as CHEESE. Mauri knows who the majority of his listener are, and he always sends them a positive message. I hope that one day many more of our Hispanic men take their spot as positive role models for the children of today. We need more than just famous athletes and singers as role models. You all can see where the rich and famous are leading our children. No thanks to Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Micheal Vic, and so many other famous people our youth are beginning to believe that what these people do is OK. I want the parents and children of today to stop looking to Hollywood for role models, look closer to home. I'm sure there are many more unsung hero's in our own communities. I know where to find at least one local hero, on CASA 106.7 in Dallas, TX.
